Description: The Greens Bayou Corridor Coalition and the National Park Service invite you to join us at one or more community planning workshops in February to help develop a strategic corridor plan for Greens Bayou. The goals of the project are to:
* Conserve the corridor’s most important natural and cultural resources
* Create a diverse system of recreation opportunities
* Manage the corridor’s natural and improved landscaping
* Foster a system of interconnected parks and trails that link neighborhoods and destinations
* Assure that projects are sustainably designed and are maintained for years to come
For the purpose of this study, the Greens Bayou Corridor is defined as the area on either side of the bayou running 45 miles from US 290 to the Houston Ship Channel. The study focuses on conservation, recreation and connectivity.
To help understand and plan for the diverse geography of this 45-mile corridor, we are holding workshops in four segments, or reaches, of the corridor. Please see the list of dates and places for the workshops.
We invite you to join in the planning by identifying one or two individuals to represent your organization at one or more workshops. This series of community planningworkshops will be held in various locations throughout the corridor on February 15, 16, 24, and 25. The workshops will primarily focus on gathering input from interested people. We want to hear your ideas! Come propose locations for trails, trailheads and parks. Help us protect natural resources, identify potential recreation improvements and locate restoration and clean-up areas. Tell us how to prioritize the projects for implementation.
With your help, Greens Bayou could become known as one of the region’s most livable areas with easy access to hike and bike trails, natural areas, parks and the bayou itself. We expect to gather a broad spectrum of interested individuals to inform this community effort. To RSVP for the workshop, please contact Treena Dockery by phone (281) 874-2146 or by email: tdockery@greenspoint.org. As space is limited, it is important that we know in advance how many people are coming, so we would appreciate your response no later than February 12th. We look forward to hearing from you.
