Location: Houston Garden Center, 1500 Hermann Dr. in Hermann Park
Link out: Click here
Description: Nan Hildreth will lead a panel discussion on soil, soil fertility,
biochar, and how growing vegetables at our homes helps the environment and with a little tweaking could help even more. Panelists will include soil
expert John Ferguson (www.NaturesWayResources.com), Bruce A. McCarl,
agricultural economist with Texas A&M, and Jason Aramburu, founder of
Re:Char (www.re-char.com), a company based in Austin making biochar cookers for small farmers.
Please feel free to bring plants, seeds and snacks you want to share.
And bring announcements and fliers of events you think the organization would like to hear about.
The meetings remain FREE and open to everyone. You don’t have to be a
member of HUG. There will be the popular coffee machine that brews a
fresh cup of coffee or tea at the meeting. So come on down, enjoy some snacks, learn how to enrich soil, how gardening and working the soil helps the environment, and get better acquainted with some like-minded people.
Start Time: 18:30
Date: 2011-02-14
