  1. Mayor’s Holiday Celebration. The official holiday tree lighting and celebration will happen on December 3rd at 901 Bagby Street. The 5,000 lights used in the decorations will use less than one dollar a day in energy cost. Also, be sure to bring an unwrapped toy to the Reliant Energy Booth for the toy drive.   2. TAEP Extended Deadline. The Texas Association of Environmental Professionals has extended the deadline to accept abstracts for the Fifth Annual Environmental Challenges and Innovations Conference: Gulf Coast 2011. The conference will take place Thursday, February 10, 2011. For more information, visit http://www.taep.org/.
  3. Rainbow Trout Stocking. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will stock rainbow trout at more than 120 rivers, lakes and ponds this winter. To find dates and locations, visit http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/management/stocking/trout_stocking.phtml.
  4. 2011 Hometown Tour. Rice Design Alliance has announced its 2011 Hometown Tour destinations. In April, the tour will go to Dallas during Dallas Architecture and Art Fair.   5. Outstanding Student Nominations. Education in Action is looking for nominations of outstanding 4th-8th graders in Texas. The distinguished students will be able to attend the Lone Star Leadership Academy, a weeklong, TEKS-based, experiential leadership development program.
