    The Devils River is a symbol of unspoiled native environment in Texas. The owner of land on the river is trying to exchange his property to the state for existing state property and $8 million, but the state is facing serious budget issues. There is concern with the proposed land exchange, citing the cost, the loss of the current natural area and access to the river.

    Several large cities across the nation may face water shortages in the next few years. Houston was identified as one of those cities at high risk. Houston has grown rapidly over the recent years and the area’s high drought likelihood has increased this risk.

  3. Survey: Texas Ignores Greenhouse Gas Rules (Ramit Plushnick-Masti – Click2Houston, 10/29/2010)
    Texas is the only state that has not agreed to the greenhouse gas rules that go into effect January 2, 2011. Rick Perry has claimed that the set of rules is an example of meddling by the federal government. Texas has not changed its laws or even allowed the EPA to issue permits.
