Title: Urban Harvest Seed Saving Class
Location: Oberholtzer Hall at University of Houston
Event Link: Click here
Description: Seed saving has traditionally been the primary way for gardeners to pass plants down to the next generation. Seed Saving is not only a wonderful activity, it’s also an important way to ensure the availability of heirloom plants, and to maintain the genetic diversity of food crops. Saving seed requires you to grow plants to maturity, and consequently they get bigger and stay around longer than normal, so leave a bit more space around them. The purpose of this class is to give gardeners the opportunity to collect their own seed. Various seed saving techniques will be discussed, along with ways to store seed so that it is viable for planting in the future.
