Description: Interested in volunteering and learning about new service opportunities? Attend a Volunteer Open House at Jesse H. Jones Park Saturday, September 25 at 10 a.m. in the park nature center. Anyone interested in joining the park’s mission of reconnecting people with nature and the history of Texas is encouraged to visit the park or contact volunteer coordinator Kaylen Fry.

Family volunteering is supported at the park and promotes spending quality time together, strengthening family ties, and making an impact in the community. Individuals and families interested are invited to spend a day volunteering at one of the many upcoming park events: JJPV Presents Tricks & Treats (Sat., Oct. 30 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.), Pioneer Day (Sat., Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), An Old-Fashioned Christmas (Sat., Dec. 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.), and NatureFest (Sat., March 5, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

“Every effort is made to find the best fit for each volunteer,” explains volunteer coordinator Kaylen Fry. “We want service to be a rewarding experience for volunteers and encourage them to branch out into new areas where they may bloom in their roles.

They greatly extend our reach out to the community and expand the quality of our programs, all of which are free and open to the public.”
