Description: The Texas Legacy Project: Stories of Courage and Conservation
Booksigning at Brazos Bookstore October 7 – 7 PM

An interview with KPC’s own executive director, Mary Anne Piacentini, appears in The Texas Legacy Project: Stories of Courage and Conservation, edited by David Todd and David Weisman. The Texas Legacy project was launched in 1998 to record the extraordinary efforts by veteran conservationists and ordinary citizens to preserve the natural legacy of Texas.

The book holds stories from more than sixty people who represent a variety of causes, communities, and walks of life – from a west Texas grocery fighting nuclear waste to an Austin lobbyist pressing for green energy to KPC’s own story fighting to save the Katy Prairie. Each speaks from the heart in personal reminiscences and first-hand accounts of battles fought for land and wildlife, public health, and for environmental justice. These impassioned accounts remind us of the importance of protecting and conserving the natural resources in our own backyards – wherever they may be.

Mr. Todd and Mr. Weisman will be signing copies at the Brazos Bookstore at 2421Bissonett Street on October 7. We encourage everyone to stop by to learn about the history of this project and what it wakes to be a conservationist in Texas. Space is limited; get there early.
