Harris County public hearing – Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)

Title: Harris County public hearing – Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
Location: Harris County Administration Building, 9th floor, 1001 Preston, Houston, 77002
Event Link: Click here
Description: Each year in June, the five members of Harris County Commissioners’ Court vote on capital spending priorities for the County, including toll roads, flood control, and other county facilities. This year, the public hearing for the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) will be on June 22, 2010.

Harris County’s new CIP budget for 2010-11 through 2014-15 is not yet available for public review, but will likely exceed $4 billion. You can review Harris County’s current CIP for 2009-10 through 2013-14 online.

The proposed Hempstead Managed Lanes project, which will provide new travel options for US-290 commuters, is arguably the most-important toll road project in the region. We urge Harris County to prioritize the Hempstead project, and make sure that Hempstead is not bumped to pursue the speculative Grand Parkway instead.
