Location: Houston Garden Center, 1500 Hermann Dr. in Hermann Park, Houston
Event Link: Click here
Description: Houston Urban Gardeners will meet Wednesday June 9 at 6:30 PM at the
Houston Garden Center, 1500 Hermann Dr. in Hermann Park, Houston
(713-284-1989). HUG members Jim Ohmart and Eileen Hatcher have gathered
information on “Finding an Urban Gardening Site.” The most common reason
people have prevents them from growing their own food is that they live in
an apartment and don’t have a yard or access to land. Jim will talk about
all the possibilities: container gardening, sharecropping, community
gardens, city vacant lots, and online match-ups for people that have land to
connect with people wanting land.
Our meetings remain FREE and inclusive–everyone is invited. We will
have light snacks and cold drinks. So come on down, learn about all the
ways we have access to land, and meet and talk with some like-minded people.
