HOUSTON (Mar. 30, 2010)— Ever wondered why a wheel is shaped the way it is, or why a pizza and the sun are both round? Have you noticed that flat circles and three-dimensional globes are found everywhere in nature, from an orange to an eye to a compass? What makes circularity so common and yet so special? Secrets of Circles will answer these questions through activities rich in math, science, engineering, and art — because circles are as beautiful as they are functional!
Beginning Saturday, May 29, 2010, the Children’s Museum of Houston (CMH) will reveal Secrets of Circles, a highly interactive new exhibit which allows you to discover the marvels of circles in nature and in cultures around the world.
Enter a multi-circular land filled with rich colors, stunning bamboo plywood, artifacts from different peoples and eras, and, of course, circles! Created and circulated by the Children’s Museum of San José and residing at CMH until September 19, Secrets of Circles will feature a whopping 16 stations that appeal to a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. Building materials are eco-friendly and signage is in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
