Description: The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) will hold a sustainability planning listening session at its offices on Friday, May 7.

In an email, H-GAC says:

We hope to foster conversations among regional entities and learn about your concerns about sustainability planning and what sustainability means to our Houston-Galveston region.

This session is a step toward applying for funding for sustainability planning that is expected to be made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency.

More about the expected funding is available online.

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development, working in conjunction with the US Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency, has set aside $100 million to support regional planning for “the integration of housing, transportation and land use.” H-GAC states, “Each applicant from a large metropolitan region can receive up to $5 million.”

Comments can be emailed to sustainability@h-gac.com.
