Location: Houston/Galveston
Event Link: Click here
Description: Artist Boat, with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Bay-Watershed Education and Training (NOAA B-WET) program, presents free professional development for middle school teachers in the five-county region. The Coastal Waters Institute (CWI) is a five-day program (with two sessions available this summer) where teachers get hands-on, feet-wet training from Artist Boat’s staff in delivering our Environmental Program for art, science, social studies, English and math, with a focus on providing knowledge of Galveston Bay. Each teacher will receive training in Artist Boat’s creative and professionally designed Environmental Curriculum (aligned with TEKS), earn up to 40 + CPE hours, and create the opportunity for their students to participate in Artist Boat’s Eco-Art Workshops (in-school) and Adventures (via kayak!).
