Description: Become a Citizen Scientist with this 2-day workshop or attend just for the fun of learning something new about the misunderstood and mysterious Myxomycetes/Slime Molds of Big Thicket National Preserve! Workshop led Katherine (Katie) Winsett, PhD student, University of Arkansas.

Day 1 will be an introduction to the organisms at the Field Station. We will discuss the biology, common species, and how to collect in the field. Included will be a discussion of the best books, guides and web resources for identifying. After lunch, we will go out in the field for a field discussion of where and how to look for myxos.

Day 2 will start in the lab identifying any field collections and continuing with a slightly more advanced discussion of identification. Most of the day will be spent at another field site.
