Description: Sculpt your lawn into an edible Eden. Learn to transform dry and monotonous landscapes into verdant gardens. By building swales on contour we will create raised growing beds that help capture rain and moderate storm waters while turning your lawn into an edible paradise! Learn to grow mutiple layers of food plants in small space using forest concepts. We will discuss the best fruit trees and vegetables for our area. How to select variety of plants. How to use native plants as companion to your fruit and vegetables to act as pollinator attractor or pest repellent. Help rain water replenish the earth instead of running in ditches as storm water. This easy-to-learn, low-tech skill is a building block for any home or homestead. And it’s fun to get your hands in the earth!
Please bring a shovel and a rake if you have one, work gloves and refillable water bottles. No plastic bottles allowed.
International Eco Designer and Permaculture expert Michael Judd of Project Bon Fide from Nicragua will be joined by our local experts Heidi Sheesly from Tree Search Farm and Jason McKenzie from Piney Wood Native Plants Nursery.
