Description: NEW VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT HOUSTON AUDUBON’S
EDITH L. MOORE NATURE SANCTUARY
New volunteers are needed to help with the many nature programs offered for children and adults at the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary in west Houston. A free introductory session will be held on Saturday, February 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the sanctuary’s historic log cabin at 440 Wilchester Blvd. The program will include an overview of the many different volunteer activities available with the Audubon Docent Guild and Houston Audubon Society such as sanctuary tours, nature hours for preschool children, owl prowls, nature camps,
classroom and library outreach programs, nature-themed birthday parties, trail repair, habitat restoration, sanctuary guides, festival booths, office help, fundraising, and gala planning. Opportunities are available weekdays, evenings, and weekends, and the commitment is as little as 2 hours a month. A tour of the Edith L. Moore sanctuary and the Houston Audubon headquarters will also be provided. This event is free but registration is required; please call 713-464-4900 or e-mail docent@houstonaudubon.org for registration or questions.
