Description: The Project is working toward restoring small areas of Hermann Park to native prairie. This month’s work involves dividing clumps of rescued grasses. Project leader: Sandy Wilson. Project Blazingstar is a multiyear joint effort of the Hermann Park Conservancy (HPC), Coastal Prairie Partnership (CPP), and Texas Master Naturalists to restore three small but highly visible areas in Hermann Park back to native prairie to preserve the natural ecosystem of this area and to create better habitat for birds, butterflies, rabbits, and other park wildlife.
Wear outdoor clothing. Bring gardening gloves, tools (if you have trowel, pruners, knife to divide plants), and any used 1 gallon nursery pots, you can donate. EVERYONE interested is invited. NO EXPERIENCE NECCESSARY. Instructions will be provided. RSVP or more information: LSComposts@yahoo.com.
