Description: Want to get outdoors but don’t want a guided tour? Katy Prairie Conservancy’s Open Trails program lets you visit our preserves at your own pace. KPC will provide a full-color trail guide and you’re free to meander around, checking out the amazing wildlife the winter prairie has to offer.
Want to spend an afternoon with the honking of wild geese under a vast expanse of blue winter sky? This month, come out to our February Open Trails at Warren Lake. We’re showcasing this wildlife hotspot this winter so you can catch a glimpse of some of the plantlife and wildlife found on the Katy Prairie. This afternoon walk gives you the opportunity to see wintering birds on the prairie – birds such as a geese, ducks, and (if you’re very lucky!) even bald eagles.

Remember to always dress appropriately for trips out to the prairie. Close-toe shoes and long pants are always recommended. The lake can be quite windy, so bring a jacket just in case.
