Ninety-Seven Show Up for First HUG Meeting
The first meeting of Houston Urban Gadeners (HUG) was attended by 97. Participants wore name tags color-coded for the part of town they were from so that people could meet and talk with their neighbors. Dr. Carol Brouwer entertained with her lively talk about reasons why we love to garden and the benefits of gardening. The next meeting of HUG will be Monday Oct. 12, 6:30 PM at the Houston Garden Center. Bill Adams, former Texas Agriculture Extension Agent will talk about what to plant now. Bill has a large garden and has been publishing books since the 1970’s on growing vegetables, fruits and nuts in southern gardens. He is known for his generosity and enthusiasm in sharing what he knows, which is extensive.
