Galveston Baykeeper Wetland Watch

Wetland preservation is effective protection from a hurricane’s damaging flood waters and storm surge.  Galveston Baykeeper is looking over the shoulders of the United States Army Corps of Engineers,  Environmental Protection Agency, Texas Commission of Environmental Quality, and the Coastal Coordination Council demanding enforcement of the Clean Water Act and the “No Net Loss” policy to preserve remaining wetlands.  You can help by talking with community leaders and  elected officials asking if these agencies are assuring coastal communities that developers are mitigating for the loss of about 7.5 square miles of wetlands each year.
