Invasive Species Removal in Memorial Park
March 11, 12, and 14. Join Memorial Park Conservancy volunteers and Endangered Species Media Project for the last phase of the one-year grant for Invasive Species Removal. High School and Middle School Students from H.I.S.D get volunteer hours for working in Memorial Park. Students use Picnic Loop Lane as an outdoor classroom and are given three invasive (non-native) plant species to focus on removing. Volunteers help students with the scientific method. Students are asked to identify the specific invasive plant, and remove it from the forest. The students genuinely love working in an outdoor setting and getting to remove the invasive species. This is a fun volunteer effort and will require an orientation for volunteers. Lunch will be provided. Contact Allison Grady 713-863-8403 for more information.
