VOTE TUESDAY
By Ella Tyler
The very, very long campaign season is nearly over. By the time early voting ended Friday, more than 600,000 people had voted in Harris County. Tuesday, November 4 is the only day left to cast your vote in this historic election.
The presidential candidates are not the only candidates on the ballot. Many county and state races are to be decided, and the Electoral College has nothing to do with these races. Your vote for these candidates can make a difference in the state of our environment. Also, some area cities and counties have bond proposals and other ballot issues that directly affect the environment.
The environment is rarely mentioned in campaign ads, but the League of Women Voters’ Guide asks about an environmental issue for many of the races profiled. The Harris County guide can be found here and the Fort Bend Guide is here.
Also, several of CEC’s member groups, Sierra Club and Planned Parenthood for example, have “action funds” or political action committees that have made endorsements. Check out your professional group’s website as well.
