TOOT YOUR OWN HORN

Nominations are open for the 2009 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards. These annual awards recognize projects across Texas that significantly reduce waste, conserve natural resources and prevent pollution. The awards are presented annually by the governor’s office and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. An individual, community, company, or organization may be nominated for an award.Awards are made in the following categories: Agriculture; Civic/Nonprofit; Education (public education campaigns or educational initiatives); Government; Individual; Innovative Technology; Large Business/Nontechnical (more than 100 employees); Large Business/Technical (more than 100 employees); Small Business (independently owned business with 100 or fewer employees); Water Conservation; and Youth (science clubs, school or scout projects, youth groups or individuals). Nominations may be made online. The deadline for applications is October 24.
