PLANT RESCUE
Katy Prairie Conservancy and the Houston Audubon Society are collaborating with government agencies and other conservation organizations to save increasingly rare coastal prairie plants such as Kansas Blazing Star, Black-Eyed Susan, and Rattlesnake Master from the pristine Saums Road prairie in west Harris County. Rescued plants will be used to restore and enhance grasslands on the Katy Prairie, along Brays Bayou, and other places in Houston. There will be a “Plant Rescue” on Saturday, September 6 from 6:30 to 9 am at Saums Road Prairie and from 9:30 am to 1 pm at the Katy Prairie Field Office. Registration is required for this event and a liability waiver must be signed by all plant rescue participants and returned to Flo Hannah by September 4.
