CEC ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR SYNERGY AWARD
Each year, the CEC honors individuals and groups in the Houston area with our Synergy Award. The awards celebrate cooperative action – where the whole is greater than any of its parts. We give awards for conservation, community activism, corporate awareness, environmental education, media, government, sustainable planning, and lifetime achievement. We can’t keep track of all the exciting activities and achievements of our region’s environmental activists, so we need your help. Any member of the public may nominate an individual, group, or business for an award by sending a note with the name and contact information of your nominee, what regional project or activity you propose to honor, a short description, and your contact information by September 1 to . Self-nominations are encouraged.
This year, the awards will be presented at a luncheon in October. Houston’s city controller, Annise Parker, is the honorary chair for this event. When she was a city council member, she received a “Distinguished Local Elected Official Award” from the Texas Recreation and Park Society. She has also received the “Good Brick Award” from the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance.
