NATIONAL TRAILS DAY IS SATURDAY

National Trails Day is not a day to go take a hike – it’s the day to take care of your favorite trail. Several local groups have projects planned. Volunteers organized by the Park People, Keep Houston Beautiful and the Parks Departments will be On The Trail Of Trash at nine nearby parks – Burnett – Bayland Park, Mason Park, Stude/White Oak, Bayou Parkland at Herman Park, Cullinan Park at Oyster Creek in Sugar Land, Cullen Park, phase 2 and 4, Herman Brown Nature Trail and Harrisburg Trail / Sunset Trail. Volunteers will pick up litter and trash, grade trails, remove invasive plants, and repair park benches. To sign up call (713) 839-8855 or (713) 845-1135.

The Houston Arboretum will have a variety of activities including a trail work project, a ribbon cutting and rededication of the Alice Brown Trail Loop, and a Take a Trail Puzzle Hike.

There will be a work-day from 8 am – 12 pm at Pundt Park, 4129 Spring Creek Drive, Spring. Please register with David Sims at (832) 237-8833 or at dsims@rei.com or visit REI – Willowbrook to register.
