TWO MARSH MANIA EVENTS COMING UP

The Galveston Bay Foundation will host “Marsh Mania” planting events on two Saturdays – April 26 and May 31. The goal of Marsh Mania is to involve local citizens in hands-on wetlands restoration activities while increasing awareness and appreciation of wetland habitats and functions. Foundation president Bob Stokes said, “Marsh restoration helps protect finfish and shellfish that are important to our community and our state, both commercially and recreationally. These marshes also provide natural protection from storm surges and help reduce coastal erosion.” To register for Marsh Mania, please send an e-mail to marshmania@galvbay.org or see the Foundation’s website. This Saturday, Pierce Marsh (Hitchcock), North Deer Island (West Bay), and Clear Creek (League City) will be planted.
