FIGHTING GOLIATH: TEXAS COAL WARS
Film icon and environmentalist, Robert Redford, will introduce “Fighting Goliath: Texas Coal Wars†in its Houston premier on Thursday, March 27 at 7:30 pm at Wortham Center. Redford narrates this 30 minute documentary about how a coalition of Texas cities, ranchers, business leaders, and private citizens, opposed the permitting of 18 coal-burning power plants. After the screening, Redford will join a panel discussion about the film. The panel will include “stars†of the film – Mayor Bill White, attorney Steve Susman, former Dallas Mayor Laura Miller, Hallsburg rancher Marc Scott, and Tom “Smitty” Smith of Public Citizen Texas. John Hofmeister, president of Shell Oil Company, and film director Mat Hames are also panel members. For tickets, go to the Progressive Forum’s website.
