In June 2007, Gov. Perry requested that the EPA reclassify the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria area from moderate to severe for ozone levels. A severe classification means that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will get more time to come up with a clean air plan to reduce ozone levels for our area. Texas has had more than three decades to put a plan together and yet Houston is still not in compliance with federal law for ozone health standards. Now the deadline for attaining healthy air might be pushed back to 2019. The EPA needs to hear from you by January 30.
