EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO TECHS & TRAINERS

The Texas Rehabilitation Association named Techs & Trainers “Employer of the Year” at its annual convention in June. Barbara Rosen founded Techs & Trainers in 2000 to provide meaningful employment for people with mental illness. Workers are trained to rebuild computers, thus developing independence, self-confidence, and work skills. Techs & Trainers takes donated computers and makes them workable, and then provides them to people with disabilities, the disadvantaged, and low-income senior citizens for a nominal fee. In the first half of 2007, more than 500 people received computers.
