THANKS TO ALL FOR A SUCCESSFUL SYNERGY LUNCHEON
CEC’S tenth annual Synergy Awards were presented at a luncheon at the Houstonian Hotel on Monday, November 5. Mayor Bill White, who received the Synergy Government Award, made a short speech, congratulating the environmental successes in Houston and the true synergy represented at the awards luncheon.The event sponsors were BP America, Inc., Kirksey, Devon Energy Corporation, and Marathon Oil Corporation.
Awards were presented to Dr. Bob Randall of Urban Harvest; Morton D. Voller of the Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council, Inc.; Patricia Gras, producer of Living Smart, HoustonPBS; Anne Olsen for the Buffalo Bayou Partnership; Linda Shead, program director for the Trust for Public Land; Lorraine Cherry and Friends of West 11th Street Park; and Joe Turner, Houston Parks Department, Kathy Lord, Trees For Houston, and Dana Cote, Texas Department of Transportation, were presented with the President’s Award for the Arbor Day Tree Planting Project. Richard Lindsay of HISD was not present to receive the Synergy Award for Sustainable Planning as he was spending the day preparing for what proved to be a successful bond election.
