BIRDS AND BAYOUS BIRDWALKS SATURDAY

There will be three guided bird walks of area bayous this weekend and next. On Saturday, October 20, 2007, from 10 – 11:30 am Skip Almoney will lead a tour of Bayou Parkland in Hermann Park. Meet at the pavilion on Almeda Road. Marissa Sipocz will lead a tour of Mason Park’s freshwater wetland near Brays Bayou. The park is at 541 S. 75th Street. Joy Hesther will be the guide at Willow Waterhole Park, Ricecrest and S. Willow.Other park events Saturday –

Green Day in the Park at West 11th Street Park, which is at 11th and Skirkmire between Jester and Ella. That event will be from 10 am to 2 pm and celebrates one of Houston’s newest parks and kicks off a fundraising drive to remediate trails and make some of them ADA accessible. Shake Russell will perform and there will be a plant sale.

Bird walks at Lake Houston Park and Sheldon Lake State Park, both beginning at 8:30 am.
