SYNERGY WINNERS NAMED

We asked you, our readers, to tell us about the exciting work going on in the greater Houston environmental community and nominate programs that exemplify synergy – where the whole is greater than its parts – for CEC’s tenth annual synergy awards. We were gratified by the response and impressed and encouraged by the great work that goes on in our territory.The awards will be presented at a luncheon at the Houstonian on Monday, November 5 at 11:30 am. The winners are:
Arbor Day Tree Planting Project will receive the President’s Award; Buffalo Bayou Partnership will receive the Environmental Education Award; Richard Lindsay, Senior Project Executive in the Bond Fund Program Department of HISD, will receive the Sustainable Planning Award; Feather Fest and Morton D. Voller, President, Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council, Inc., will receive the Army and Sarah Emmott Environmental Conservation Award; and Friends of West 11th Street Park will receive the Community Activism Award. The Government Award goes to Mayor Bill White; the Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Dr. Bob Randall; the Corporate Awareness Award will go to Transocean, SERPENT Project; and the Media Award goes to Patricia Gras, Living Smart, HoustonPBS.
