“DIMMING THE SUN” SHOWING SEPTEMBER 19

Has air pollution kept us cool? On Wednesday, September 19, Rice professor Dan Cohan hosts a free screening of the provocative documentary “Dimming the Sun” at 7 pm at the Rice Media Center. Scientists recently discovered that certain air pollutants also significantly reduce the amount of sunlight reaching Earth, cooling our planet and partially offsetting greenhouse warming. Without air pollution, we will no longer have the cooling effects of “global dimming.” Instead, we may be confronted with the true power of global warming. The Dean of Undergraduates and the Rice Environmental Club are sponsoring the event.
