OH GIVE ME A HOME

Most of us don’t have room in our back yards for buffalo to roam, or even for deer and antelopes to play, but home gardeners can still provide habitat for a variety of wildlife. The Native Plant Society of Texas is hosting a class on Landscaping with native plants to attract wildlife on Saturday, September 8 from 9am to 3 pm. The event will be at U of H Main Campus in the College of Engineering. There will also be a native plant sale. This class will train volunteers to combat habitat fragmentation by helping people and communities install habitat landscapes and connect them into habitat corridors. Volunteers may work with projects such as habitat gardens, market farms, vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, permaculture projects, horticulture therapy gardens, WaterSmart irrigation systems, cisterns, nature ponds, rain gardens, greenhouses, decks, paths, borders, trellising systems, composting or aquaculture systems.
