METRO PRESENTS UNIVERSITY CORRIDOR DEIS

METRO has completed the draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the University Corridor. The voluminous report compares the effect of the proposed routes on a large number of environmental factors such as noise, land acquisition requirements, tree removal, and business or home displacement. The document is available online, select Metro Solutions.Copies of the DEIS will be available and METRO staff and consultants will also be available to answer questions at public meetings on Monday, August 13, and Tuesday, August 14, from 5 to 7 pm. Monday’s meeting will be at Holiday Inn Select-Greenway, 2712 Southwest Freeway. Tuesday’s meeting will be at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, 3826 Wheeler Avenue.

There will be a public hearing for METRO and the Federal Transit Administration to receive formal comments on the document on Monday, August 27, at South Main Baptist Church, 4100 South Main. There will be an open house in the Fellowship Hall at 1 pm and a public hearing in the Sanctuary at 2. The public comment period closes on September 17.
