PARKS DEPARTMENT’S HAS SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM
Since 1984, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department has sponsored the Summer Food Service Program for youth, which provides people ages 1 to 18 with free lunches during the time that school is out of session for the summer. It is federally funded program. Lunches are served Monday through Friday, from 11 am to 1 pm, and a healthy snack is served between 3 and 4 pm. Meals are available at Houston Parks and Recreation Department Community Centers and other locations such as churches, apartment complexes and learning centers and other non-profit organizations. Locations can be found by calling 2-1-1 and providing the operator with a zip code.
