SRO AT ANNUAL MEETING

It was standing room only for CEC’s annual meeting last Tuesday. More than 150 guests, including a few babies and several children, heard Dr. Barry Lefer and LaVerne Williams make fascinating presentations about global warming – its causes and its potential effects on our city. Karl Pepple moderated a lively question and answer session. Our special guests included Houston City Council member Peter Brown and Majorie Milby, Cynthia Rowan Taylor, Hana Ginzbarg, Ann Jones, Kay Crooker, and Terry Hershey, who were members of Citizens Who Care, the group that founded CEC in 1970. Thanks to our speakers, our guests and the many people who helped put up chairs, keep the food table stocked, and pour wine. Sue and Al McDonald brought cases of Mountain Valley Spring Water, which really tasted great. Green Mountain Energy, which will make a contribution to CEC, signed up new members. Thanks also to the Upper Kirby District for the use of their sound system.
