CEC Annual Meeting – Houston and Global Warming

CEC’s annual meeting on Tuesday, April 24, will feature a presentation on the effect of global warming on Houston. Dr. Barry Lefer, atmospheric scientist and assistant professor in geophysics at University of Houston, and LaVerne Williams, a local pioneer in green architecture, will make presentations about the global and local effects of atmospheric warming. Karl Pepple, Director of Environmental Programming, Mayor’s Office, City of Houston, will moderate.The presentation will feature dramatic computer simulations of the effects of increases in sea level on Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast.Dr. Lefer has worked in Greenland and at the South Pole.

LaVerne Williams founded Environment Associates, which is dedicated exclusively green residential architecture, in 1975.

The 2007 Environmental Resource Guide will be available.

The meeting will begin at 6 pm with refreshments and a social hour. The presentations will begin at 7. The meeting will be at 3015 Richmond, the Upper Kirby Center, in the first floor meeting room.
