TELL HOUSTON PARKS DEPARTMENT WHAT YOU WANT

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is revising the Parks Master Plan which will guide future development. The department will hold a series of forums from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on the dates below to encourage citizens to discuss their perceptions of parks and recreation and their priorities for parks, services, indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and open spaces. The first event is Monday, April 23 at Marian Community Center, 11101 South Gessner, for District C, Council Member Anne Clutterbuck.On Thursday, May 10, there will be a forum at Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 1475 West Gray, open to residents of all council districts. The focus of this meeting is on adaptive recreation and wellness and is for specific input on the needs of people with disabilities.

Other hearings are scheduled for:

  • April 25 -Judson Robinson, Jr. Community Center, 2020 Hermann Drive, for District D, Council Member Ada Edwards.
  • April 26 – Mason Community Center, 541 South 75th, for District I, Council Member Carol Alvarado.
  • April 30 – Sharpstown Community Center, 6600 Harbor Town, for District F, Council Member M.J. Khan.
  • May 3 – Montie Beach Community Center, 915 Northwood, for District H, Council Member Adrian Garcia.
  • May 7 – Candlelight Community Center, 1520 Candlelight, for District A, Council Member Toni Lawrence.
  • May 9 – Acres Homes Multi-Service Center, 6719 West Montgomery, for District B, Council Member Jarvis Johnson.
  • May 14 – Meadow Wood Elementary School, 14230 Memorial for District G, Council Member Pam Holm
  • May 15 – Creekwood Middle School Cafetorium, 3603 West Lake Houston Parkway for District E, Council Member Addie Wiseman. There will also be a hearing for District E on May 17 at San Jacinto Community College, 13735 Beamer, Marie S. Flickinger Fine Art Building.
