KEEP HOUSTON BEAUTIFUL DAY IS APRIL 14

Keep Houston Beautiful Day is the largest one-day neighborhood cleanup in Houston. It kicks off a series of projects to celebrate The Great American Cleanup, which runs from April 14 through May 31. Events for April 14 include a Cigarette Butt Scavenger Hunt at 8421 W. Montgomery. Cleanups will be held around U of H, in East Downtown, in West Bellaire Chinatown, Sunnyside, Second Ward, Japeht Creek, New Braeswood, Scott Terrace, Candlelight Park and at 2220 Broadway. Activities will include planting trees, picking up trash, and painting over graffiti. Keep Houston Beautiful will provide materials and resources to help make other cleanup events a success. Also on the 14th, local Firestone Tire and Service Centers are collecting residential used engine oil, residential automotive oil, and residential passenger and light truck scrap tires for recycling. For information about the events on April 14 or to get help with an event of your own, see Keep Houston Beautiful’s website or call (713) 839-8855
