RICE CLUB TO HOST ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONFERENCE

The Rice University Environmental Club is hosting “Whose Earth Is It? People, Petrochemicals, and Environmental Justice” on Saturday, March 24th, from 9:30 am to 4 pm. The conference will have panel discussions on current environmental injustices in Houston and on possible solutions that that are sustainable and promote social equality. Hilton Kelley, a leading environmental justice advocate in Port Arthur, will be the keynote speaker. Other panelists include Suzie Canales, Juan Parras, Jane Laping, and Loren Raun. The conference is free, and will feature free breakfast and lunch from several vegetarian and vegan restaurants. The group is purchasing carbon offsets for every attendee.
