HEARING ON HOUSTON’S NUISANCE ORDINANCE MONDAY

Houston Mayor Bill White is proposing an amendment to the city’s nuisance ordinance to include emissions of air toxics at levels that increase cancer levels by greater than 1 in one million persons. With this change in place, the city will be able to prosecute offenders that release those levels of air toxics without the approval of city council. There will be a special public hearing on the proposal on Monday, Feb 12, at 3 pm in the City Council Chambers, Houston City Hall, 901 Bagby. Call (713) 247-1840 to be placed on the list to speak.
