POINT CLEAR, ALA. – The red snapper harvest for commercial and recreational fishermen will be cut by millions of pounds per year for at least the next three years, and it appears likely that shrimp boats will be banned from most of the Gulf of Mexico for one to three months per year, under proposals made this week by the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council.
