LECTURE ON CLIMATE CHANGE, DIESEL ENGINES

Engineers Without Borders – Houston Central will host a professional development seminar on Thursday, Jan 25, from 6:30 to 8: 30 pm. The speakers will be Barry Lefer, PhD, and Rudy Smaling, PhD. Lefer is a professor at the University of Houston who has research interests in atmospheric chemistry. He will talk about climate change trends in the past thousands of years relative to the past 200 years and discuss claims about the future. Smaling is a researcher at Houston Advanced Research Center and runs the New Technology Research and Development (NTRD) program. This program awards $9 million each year to companies that develop new ways to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines. Smaling will discuss the NTRD program and the future of diesel engines.The lecture will be at Aramco Services Company, 9009 West Loop South, in the main auditorium. Cost for members is $20 with a RSVP, $25 without. For non-members, registration is $30 with a RSVP, $35 without. A meal is included. Professional Development Hours are available.
