EMISSION REDUCTION INCENTIVE GRANTS
Grants are available under the TCEQ’s Texas Emissions Reduction Plan program to help clean the air in ozone nonattainment areas. Two different programs provide incentives to eligible individuals, businesses, or local governments to reduce emissions from polluting vehicles and equipment. The ERIG program includes projects for new purchases or leases of clean-emitting vehicles or equipment; replacement of older vehicles or equipment; repower (replacement) of old engines with newer models; installation of emission-reducing retrofit systems; and idle reduction infrastructure. The program has approximately $126 million available for FY07. The application deadline for the ERIG program is 5 pm, Feb 28.
The Rebate Grants program will offer $10 million in funding for eligible on-road and non-road replacement and repower projects. Eligible reimbursement amounts are predetermined based on default usage rates (miles/hours). A portion of the funding will be set aside for entities that qualify as small businesses.
Workshops will be held in the eligible counties in January and February. For up-to-date workshop information, TERP program information, eligibility requirements, and copies of the application forms, please visit TERP’s website or call (800) 919-TERP (8377).
