MAKE YOUR LIST, CHECK IT TWICE

Urban Harvest’s 7th annual fruit tree sale isn’t until Jan 20, but it is not too early to start making your list. The fruit tree sale will have a large selection of citrus trees, many of which can be sampled at the Citrus Festival, Bayou City Farmers’ Market, this Saturday morning, Dec 9. Sample the locally grown, fresh-picked citrus and decide which kind you want to grow yourself. The sale will also have peaches, plums, apples, pears, figs, pecans, grapes, blackberries, and persimmons. Tropicals such as mangos, lychees, papayas, guavas, and star fruit are being offered for the first time this year. The varieties available have been chosen for their ability to produce in this climate. There will be talks about fruit trees on the morning of the sale and on Jan 10. For the list of trees that will be available and a more detailed description of the talks, see Urban Harvest’s website.Bayou City Farmers’ Market is every Saturday from 8 am until noon behind the office building at 3000 Richmond, in the Greenway Plaza area.
