FALL FESTIVAL AT ARMAND BAYOU THIS WEEKEND
Step back in time to the early 1900s at Armand Bayou Nature Center’s 25th annual Martyn Farm Fall Festival this weekend. Volunteers will recreate farm life in the 1900s on the Texas Gulf Coast. The festival goers will get to try basket weaving, candle making, rope making, and other early farm skills. The event features music, food, arts and crafts, farm animals, wagon rides, canoeing, games and crafts common during the early 1900s. Storytellers will be spinning their tales and volunteers in period costume will make syrup from sugar cane and churn butter. Special guests include the North Harris County Dulcimer Society and Houston Five, the Frontier Squares, the Houston Area Blacksmiths Association, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and League City Historical Society’s West Bay Common School House. The event is Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12 from 10 am – 4 pm each day. Armand Bayou Nature Center is at 8500 Bay Area Blvd. Admission is $7 for members, $8 for non-member.
