TAKE A HIKE IN PADLOCKED STATE PARK ON SUNDAY
Join the Houston Sierra Club on a hike at the Levi Jordan State Park. If you’ve never heard of the park, there’s a good reason. It sits behind locked gates in Brazoria County, awaiting the issuance of bonds to develop and open it. The park’s 90 acres pack history, archaeology, and a bit of the Columbia Bottomlands Forest onto its small footprint. A master naturalist volunteer will guide the hike. After hiking, the group will go to West Columbia for a meal at a local seafood restaurant. A donation of $5 per person is requested to benefit the Friends of Varner-Hogg State Park. Contact Evelyn Merz at (713) 644-8228 or elmerz@hal-pc.org for directions and so she can anticipate the head-count.
