EPA TO HOST FORUM FOR HISPANIC LEADERS

The Environmental Protection Agency, Region 6, will hold a two-day Hispanic stakeholders forum, “Beyond Translation,” in San Antonio, October 17-18. Hispanic leaders from nonprofit organizations, local governments, civic groups, businesses, institutions of higher education, and other segments of the community are invited. The EPA wishes to explore ways of better understanding environmental issues of greatest concern to Hispanics; also to improve communication and involvement with the community, and to find additional ways of sharing information about funding and employment opportunities.

Sessions will cover understanding “La Comunidad,” with a look at demographics and perspectives from academic, media, and community sources; organizations addressing children’s health and the environment; and challenges and opportunities facing the Hispanic community. The registration deadline is Sept 28. There is no registration fee. To register, go to the event website.

Travel assistance to small nonprofits and community groups may still be available. Contact Paula Flores-Gregg at (214) 665-8123 for additional information.
