BAT OBSERVATION DECK NOW OPEN

The Waugh Bat Colony Observation Deck has been built at Allen Parkway and Waugh Drive. The observation deck will allow bat watchers a great view of our urban colony of Mexican free-tailed bats departing for its evening hunt. Bat Ambassador volunteers with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be available Thursday through Sunday evenings (30 minutes prior to sunset) until September 2 to answer questions and lead bat viewing during the Waugh Bridge colony’s spectacular nightly emergence. In addition, the Buffalo Bayou Partnership offers bat colony pontoon boat tours. The next tour will be September 8.
